::wysiwyg_introtext::ist1_6470552-orange-man-trophyCommunities across the country face similar circumstances and situations. Although similar problems are confronting communities, each community typically confronts its problems on its own and everyone “invents their own wheel” without sharing lessons learned with other professionals or community leaders, or leveraging work and knowledge of others who have solved similar problems before. By sharing Best Practices, communities can excel at tackling problems and running their communities more effectively and efficiently.

What is a Best Practice?

A Best practice is a technique, method, process, activity, incentive, or reward that is believed to be more effective at delivering a particular outcome than any other technique, method, process, etc. when applied to a particular condition or circumstance. The idea is that with proper processes, checks, and testing, a desired outcome can be delivered with fewer problems and unforeseen complications. Best practices can also be defined as the most efficient (least amount of effort) and effective (best results) way of accomplishing a task, based on repeatable procedures that have proven themselves over time for large numbers of people.

OpenHOA’s Best Practice Exchange

The Best Practice Exchange on OpenHOA provides a place where industry professionals and community leaders alike can share and obtain best practices. Best practices on the exchange consist of one or more of the following elements:
  • Webinar
  • Sample, Form or Template
  • Tutorial
  • Case Study
  • Checklist
  • Worksheet
Best Practices are authored and submitted by you, the community. OpenHOA reviews and vets each submitted Best Practice to ensure that it meets minimum quality standards. It is then published, where users on OpenHOA can review, rate and download the information.

Opening January 2010

The Best Practice exchange is opening in January of 2010.
